Optimised xONEx Routings with 16 segments

Hi Guys,

I've tried doing a number of searches for optimised DONE4/AONE4 routings with the new 16 segment rule, but have been unable to find any (except plenty of 20 segment routings).

Going through a few routings myself for a 16 segment AONE4 and with a routing that I want I managed 55,931 miles and 2570 SC's on QF:

AKL-SYD-HKG-LAX-ORD-LAX-BOS-DFW-SFO-DFW-EZE-LHR-MCT-LHR-SYD-MEL-AKL

I know this is not fully optimised for QF as I'm pretty sure that I've seen a number of AONE4's with over 3000 SC's. If there is indeed a thread already on this that I've stupidly missed then I apologise profusely.

Thought this would be an interesting thread where people can post their optimised routings under the new 16 segment rule.

Do you realize that you are touching 5 continents?
North Am, South Am, Europe, Asia, SWP

Usually if you wish to optimize USA, it is good to arrive on east coast if coming from west (NRT-JFK) and depart form west coast (LAX-LHR) That could give you some extra mileage.
For AONE4 you have to drop one continent though... Be creative

Edit: You are limited to: SWP-Africa-EUR-NA/SA-SWP or SWP-Asia-EUR-NA/SA-SWP as you cannot skip Asia/Africa even if taking direct EUR-Australia flight

Edit: Also I suggest utilizing this rule:
Only one intercontinental departure and one intercontinental arrival permitted in each continent except
as follows:
2. Two permitted in Asia when one is a transfer without stopover or on direct single plane service
between the Southwest Pacific and Europe.

Unfortunately just realised that I had 5 instead of 4 just after I posted. Thanks for the tips. Will go away and re-work it...

SYD-MEL-AKL has no F but SYD-AKL does.

LAN doesn't have F availability for the dates. In fact LAN shows no F available on their A340 aircraft between AKL and SYD in Feb 2009 at all.

I forgot to mention the optimised DONE4 routing will differ from the optimised AONE4 routing, optimised routes also vary according to which program you are trying to get status and/or miles in. What do you want?

Some examples, can probably do better.

DONE4 2150 QFF SCs SYD-NRT-DEL-NRT-DEL-NRT-JFK-DFW-SEA-MIA-BOS-DFW-LAX-LHR-MCT-LHR-SYD

AONE4 2730 QFF SCs SYD-NRT-SIN-NRT-SIN-NRT-JFK-DFW-SEA-MIA-BOS-DFW-LAX-LHR-MCT-LHR-SYD

I stupidly told my aging parents that I would sort them out with a RTW route that would sort them out status wise (ie: QF WP for a couple of years).

So it's a mixture of optimised routings plus where they want to go. But all the help on here has been great!

Kiwi Flyer had asked a similar question for a DONE4 in a thread a few months ago and this was my answer:

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showp...7&postcount=16

This could be further optimized by using a single flight number between LHR and SYD and using the free segment elsewhere.

A query about the maximised AONE4 instanced above:

AONE4 2730 QFF SCs SYD-NRT-SIN-NRT-SIN-NRT-JFK-DFW-SEA-MIA-BOS-DFW-LAX-LHR-MCT-LHR-SYD

Although milage monkey says that you can fly in F from SYA-NRT on JO, I can't find any seats in F(A) on the JL website for a random selection of days in the next 6 months. Am I missing something?

Also the SEA-MIA service of AA is a codeshare operated by AS. DFW-SFO-MIA gets you the same SC and is AA operated

AFAICS, there is no first class on JL (aka JO) on this route. (Same seems to apply to QF.)

Does anyone know how many QFs SC's do you earn MEX-NRT? gc.kls2.com says mileage is 7004, mileage monkey says 7000.. so it's right at the threshold.
Kind of like the old KEF-LGW, it was > 1200 on gc but only credited < 1200 (LHR-KEF) distance.
