I have updated the overview.

Since JAL is again very complicated, if might be worth if someone with a deeper knowledge of the programm may doublecheck it.

Just out of curiosity, what happens, if you reach during a year the next membership level? I assume, you will only get the FOP off the highest membership level reached during a year. And no difference between JMB and JGC in this tier.

Thanks for revising the 3 charts; the wording looks OK I think. I don't know however, if the upgrade points that you get from 10K points OR 10 flights (as JAL has put it) are cumulative or exclusive.

(For example, if you take 10 flights between Tokyo and Osaka each earning 1,360 FOP, I don't know yet whether you earn 2 upgrade points for the 10 flights, or 2 points for the additional 13,600 FOP, or 4 points because you earned more than 10K points and also had 10 flights)

You get the FOP and upgrade points based on the highest membership level and mileage that you attain in the previous year.

Seat Selection

Can anyone tell me if as a Ruby I get advance seat selection on and OW carriers? I don't mind sitting in steerage if I can get an exit row, but to fly JFK-HKG on CX again might induce dwarfism.

Thanks much.

Although not a published benefit, CX is usually very good at letting OW elites to make ASRs (exit rows too).

Ruby AY is at max 12M NOT 24M

FLYGVA Feb 13, 2010 7:23 am

I have updated the thread with Mexicana and also the news in the AY program (sorry for the delay) and made some other small adjustments ...

As everytime, you input is much appreciated, esp. since it took me a bit longer than expected (it was scheduled for November 2009).

Of course, a look at the other program is also much appreciated.

Thanks

Very good to hear. What about JAL? RJ? I've heard that only OW airlines based out of english-speaking countries (AA, BA, QF) recognize OW Status for a bump. Anyone know about this on JAL? I currently live in Japan and I probably fly with them more than AA.

Some changes for JAL Mileage Bank Crystal / JGC Crystal

Miles / KM / points need for status [Year / 12 Month]
and Miles / KM / Points need for requalification
[ 30 k / 30seg + 10k ] +4 JAL flights
<no longer automatic for JGC member so no need for the text in red>

Lifetime status (for JGC members)
OW Sapphire (if JGC fees paid)

KIXman, thank for the heads up.

I have updated the overview. Seems, that JGC got a bit devaluated ... at least from my impression ...

KIXman Dec 19, 2010 4:42 pm

yeah, I feel the same way but for those who don't fly much, it could be an improvement as they are guaranteed OW Sapphire status. (IIRC it was only OW Ruby before)

S7 is now added to the overview.
I have updated the overview with S7 and the data I found on the web. I searched for t&c but found only the ones in Russian Language. Therefore I have no idea how long the miles remain valid and the requirement of flights on S7 if you (re)qualify by miles and not S7 only flights.

I have added BA Bronze to the OW overview of OW Ruby Status FFP and also modified IB.

This week Air Berlin joined oneworld and Malev is grounded since a few weeks. Therefore I have updated the Oneworld comparison chart on my homepage with Air Berlin and its Silver Status.

If you find wrong information, please let me know by posting in this thread (or PM if your prefer it this way)

Hi FLYGVA,

Please update JAL to show the new stricter requirements for status:

Miles / KM / points need for status [Year / 12 Month]
[30 k pts. including 15k pts on JAL flights, or 30seg + 10k pts. including 15 seg on JAL flights

Miles / KM / Points need for requalification
[30 k pts. including 15k pts on JAL flights, or 30seg + 10k pts. including 15 seg on JAL flights

Also for upgrade domestic / international benefits, JAL is completely removing the upgrade points program, so instead we have the following:
Domestic:
4k pts for 6 coupons

International:
none

Also, please remove JGC Crystal, it is equivalent to OW Sapphire.

FLYGVA Jul 21, 2012 2:57 pm

Thanks for the head ups, KIXman ^

The chart is hopefully updated correctly. Qualification and Requalification are now the same for the two lower tier, though the level was raised quite a lot and it seem the program becomes unattractive if one is not constantly flying JAL.
