Upgraded J class ticket - lounge access?
Hello flyers,
I have an upgraded J class ticket on CX. Will I be able to access to any OW or CX lounge at lease? I went on CX web site but did not find much info.
Please advise... Thanks!
Regards,
Sestar

If you are flying J on CX you will certainly get access to the CX J lounges at your departure airport.
You may get access to other oneworld J lounges at you departure airport. It seems different oneworld airlines at different airports have differing policies on this.

A ticket paid for with miles (or part miles part money) is no different from one paid for entirely for money in terms of the lounge access policies of CX or OneWorld (there is, in general, no way another OW lounge could tell the difference - if you have a J boarding pass then that's good enough). You would normally get a lounge invitation card from CX, but even if you don't you can still access the lounges. Note that you may not get access to some OW lounges which are operated by 3rd parties if you are not flying on the OW airline in question.
The one exception is if you get a free operational upgrade at check-in - with those the check-in staff often mark the boarding pass to that effect and you will not then get lounge access.

Note the following exceptions do not apply to the OP's situation since s/he is not flying AA.
The other oneworld exceptions (assuming oneworld Ruby status or lower) include AA tickets for all travel within North America and the Caribbean except as noted below:
1. When traveling on AA, lounge access is alllowed for International First and Business travelers (upgrades, awards, and discounted A, I and D fares are all included). For American Airlines passengers, International as defined by AA to include travel on AA to/from Europe, Asia, Central and South America, and Mexico City. So that trip from Vancouver to Curacao is NOT international in the eyes of AA for lounge access purposes.
2. US Transcontinental Full Fare First (F and Z-award) and Business (J and U-award) pasengers have lounge access. So those traveling on that discounted or upgraded First class ticket (A, P or X fare) or discounted or upgraded Business class ticket (D, I, C or R fare) are out of luck.
On North American itineraries, if you are oneworld Sapphire or Emerald then you would have lounge access as long as your ticket does NOT reflect that you are an AAdvantage Platinum or Executive Platinum member.
We try to make the rules so easy over here.
