I have been helped so much by flyertalk. Now I was thinking of trying to work towards exp status for my husband. Given the AADER promotion and the Dble miles promotion between NYC and LHR I have started to miscalculate (maybe) the eventual mileage. He thinks I will book this ticket for him in economy but today would be a good day to give him a gift that could last a while longer. As my girls and I are doing an itinerary that meets him in Mongolia we will be applying for the Plat. challenge. But with all of the encouragement from flyertalk I thought that this D0ne3 may get him close to EXP Platinum.
He is Platinum already BUT leaving Bear Stearns today and no more bus. travel from what we know in sight.

First, if you are going to start in Europe why not start someplace cheaper than the UK and use that savings to defray the cost of the positioning flight and you might consider a long flight in EUR (e.g., LHR-MCT) to get closer to your goal.
I'm not sure I follow all of your mileage calculations.
