MEL-HKG in J: CX or QF?
Thanks in advance for any advice you guys may have on this... It's been years since I've flown on CX or QF, and I really don't know how one compares to the other at this point.
I'm debating whether to fly QF or CX on an overnight flight MEL-HKG, and it really seems like a toss-up to me except that the QF flight leaves an hour earlier and leaves more room for an onward flight (which is on CX).
Does anyone have any advice on which one is better for sleeping? It doesn't look like it's the new CX J on this route (seat map has 2-2-2 seating).

We had the same 'issue' recently and opted for the QF flight because it left at a slightly more civilized time (11.59 pm versus 1.20 am for the CX flight, iirc) and also gave us an extra hour on the ground in HKG to enjoy the Wing and have a shower and a leisurely breakfast.
For sleeping, I prefer the QF Skybed to the (old) CX seats, which would just reinforce the decision to take the QF flight.

And another one! I would actually take the QF seat over the new CX totally flat seats. Just not a fan of this chicken in cages layout they are having.

Still, sounds like the verdict is resoundingly in favor of QF!
Thanks, everyone!

QF - better seat for sleeping and privacy, 744 upper deck better than 333.
CX - i prefer their IFE as it is rock solid, the service is always exceptional though (QF can be variable).
On an overnight flight I would definitely take QF.

I am on the QF29 MEL-HKG tonight (departs in about an hour). I chose the QF flight for a few reasons:
Departure time is 10:50pm vs something after 1am
Waitlist for F upgrade with QF using QF FF points (which cleared
)
QF FLounge is excellent, and I believe it closes after the QF29 flight boards (may be wrong here assumption??)
QF flight is guaranteed to be Skybeds, while the CX aircraft is occasionally subbed with a regional config.
However, on my return LHR-SYD I have selected to use CX to try out their new business class seats.
