Rule of thumb: The lowest charges will be from US carriers, the highest from European/Australian. Asia is somewhere in the middle.

In other words: It usually is the best thing to get the ticket issued by AA.

Currently the cheapest place to start a xONEx is most probably South Africa.

But, because of the special Canada rule, you should be able to get a Gibraltar-originating *ONE* ticket issued in Canada at the Gibraltar price (converted to Canadian dollars).

Just watch out for the CAD600 booking fees that seem to be the norm ...

With the TA. I was quoted $500 USD/ticket by a Montreal TA to ticket my DONE5. AA charged I think $25/ticket to issue at the airport (some sort of "service fee").

My advice: Call AA RTW desk, make the booking through them, get a quote from them and then give them your credit card number over the phone and then they will issue the ticket (electronic only) starting from anywhere at the lowest price without you having to visit Canada or incur a ridiculous booking fee from TA.

I thought that the collective wisdom of this is that if you want AA to issue an electronic RTW ticket without actually visiting Canada in person, it had to be billed to a Canadian credit card. ?
