Angry Problem using BA points on CX on flight from Canada to India

Hello All

Am trying to book outbound from YYZ (Toronto, Canada; actually Ottawa but neither BA nor CX service YOW)) to MAA (Chennai, India) and inbound from DEL (Delhi, India) using BA Executive Club points on CX (Cathay Pacific) for end of Jan/early Feb 2009 outbound and end of Feb/early March 2009 inbound.

Main reason for this is that the taxes on a Award Ticket thru LHR, on BA which has availability on World Traveller, are ridiculous (approx $680 per person)!

BA's Executive Club tells me that they have good availability in Economy and in Business from YYZ to HKG but no availability in either class from HKG to any destination in India for all of Jan and Feb 2009 (may also be true for Dec 2008 but I didn't check this). Same situation for the inbound from anywhere in India to HKG.

Seems a very weird situation given that we are talking about flights 9 months out and given the increased number of flights to India that CX will have from May! Even stranger is that their is suddenly availability both ways starting 02 March 2009.

The Executive Club Telephone agents don't seem to find this strange and say that all the Award seats on those CX flights are probably already booked which seems to strange to be true. They also say that they have no method of asking CX if CX has simply not released the seats yet.

Any suggestions on how I can make some headway in this situation and book soon so as to not lose the YYZ-HKG availability?

Any way that I could contact CX directly to ask them about their One World Frequent Flyer Seats availability on those sectors?

Thanks!

Welcome to Flyer Talk peaceonearth1

You're new here so may not have realised that cross-posting (posting the same message in multiple forums) is not allowed on Flyer Talk. I've closed this thread and direct any who can help you to post on your thread in the BA forum. Since it is a question of availability using BA miles, the BA forum is the most appropriate place.
