Flying BA & QF - which card to use?
Hi all,
I am flying a mixture of BA & QF flights from MUC to SYD via LHR & BKK. They are all QF flight numbers.
I have an AA card, and a BA card. I live in the US so will prob use the AA miles more, but am wondering if I get more miles or promotions if I use the BA card since I will be on BA flights?

There are 2 considerations. Status earning (ie getting benefits like lounge access, bonus miles, etc), and mileage earning (ie collecting miles for use on awards or upgrades).
Both depend on what class of travel you are taking (economy/world traveller, premium economy/world traveller plus, business or first); and sometimes by the booking class (this is printed on a paper ticket, or if you know the fare code paid the first letter is generally the booking code).

The first question is what class you will be travelling in. If the answer to that is Economy, the next question is what fare class are you booked into.
Crediting BA flights to AA in Economy tends not to be at all generous, but by the same token many fare classes in BA Economy are also not generous when crediting to a BA account (and can be non-tier point earning).
So as in so many cases the answer is "it depends". If you let us know more details about your flights I'm sure the experts will give you a quick answer.
Edited to add: I see one of the experts is already onto it.

This will be clearly stated in the T&C's of the OP's FF program. So if crediting to AA (or BA) then read the rules of AA (or BA) to determine what you will earn in that plan. The QF website won't tell you, the AA (or BA) website will.

The assessment of "depends" still applies however. The booking class(es) are needed to make an informed decision.
