help with aone6 bactracking rules
i am trying to ticket an aone6 via the cx office in jnb. the itinerary starts as follows:
jnb-hkg(connection)-syd-hkg-nrt-hkg-lax...........
the cx agent is insisting that i cannot route jnb-hkg(connection)-syd and then go back to hong kong because it is backtracking.
i believe there is an exception to the backtracking rule which allows me to re-enter asia as long as i only connected through it previously enroute to australia from africa.
could someone who has access to the actual oneworld rules cut and paste the text that describes this exception into a reply (or pm me with it) so i can show cx that this is a valid itinerary? also, if someone has access to the exception that allows you to connect back through north america from south america enroute to europe, that would be helpful too as i expect they will want to disallow that part of my itinerary too.
(i know i could take the direct jnb-syd flight on qf but wanted to fly on cx as i am trying to maximize miles on them to attain diamond status.)
i'd greatly appreciate any advice anyone has.
thanks,
alem

I believe one of the passes through Asia must be on a direct flight or immediate connection Europe-Australia or vice versa and this is not possible on a jnb commencing itinerary.
LHR-(HKG)-SYD-HKG-LAX is OK but JNB-(HKG)-SYD-HKG-LAX is not

Correct, that's the interpretation now being used by all the carriers. The only times two entries into Asia are being allowed is when one is in immediate conjunction with a Europe < > SWP itinerary, not SWP < > somewhere else.

You are right on all of the above as relating to the OP, of course, but just wanted to add that it is possible to enter Asia twice on an ex-JNB itinerary, just not the way the OP wants.
