Iberia vegetarian?

Does Iberia offer more than one vegetarian option (transatlantic business)? If so, what do they offer? I don't seem able to get a clear answer from CSRs.

thanks

a) the full regular menu is available on iberia.com
b) iberia.com says to call 1 800 772 4642

happycow.net lists the following options for IB:
Lacto/Ovo Vegetarian Meal, Vegetarian Non-Dairy, Asian Vegetarian (maybe contains dairy), Fruit Plate

I don't know the specific answer for Finnair, but based on experiences with other airlines in the past (including AA), just because a carrier allows you to select several different vegetarian meals "on paper" doesn't mean that those meals are really different. They may create, for example, a vegan meal and offer it also as the lacto meal, since the lacto meal says it "may" (rather than "does") include dairy. For years (before they finally admitted that there was only one vegetarian meal), for example, AA would always give me (transfatty!) margarine instead of butter as part of my supposedly "lacto/ovo" meals, and I wouldn't get yogurt for breakfast (just fruit, fruit, and more fruit). Furthermore, I think the exact same meal was also offered as the "low salt" meal, the "low fat" meal, etc!

And the CSRs never knew this, because they only saw what was "on paper".

And websites which compiled info only from the official sources (not from actual travelers) never knew this either, again because they were using the listings only.

I agree with Stefan. That's why I was looking for experience with Iberia rather than relying on CSRs or web site listings.

AA usually has a pasta that works. Alas, none of Iberia's regular offerings seem suitable.

I'd bring my own food as a back-up, but I worry about bringing food through security these days, and have not been happy with the food sold beyond security in MAD.

Iberia does offer a vegetarian menu. Just select the "vegetarian option" when booking at Iberia.com or through your tavel agency. Your request will be recorded and Iberia will supply the meal to you on board.

Just to skip problems, mention your request at the check-in counter. The agents normally take this into account even if the passenger doesn't say anything and command the meal to the catering subcontractor, but remind that to them is good a reminder, particularly when they are tired or they have too much work and they go that fast that they could skip something requested.

Enjoy your flight!
