Is DragonAir a member of the OW group?

Just wondering if this is the case, since CX owns KA in its entirety.

I notice the OW website says "In late 2006, Cathay Pacific acquired a 100 per cent holding in Dragonair, the Hong Kong-based carrier which is the biggest airline serving mainland China based outside the mainland. Now it is wholly owned, Cathay Pacific can choose to bring Dragonair into oneworld as an affiliate if it wants, provided the airline meets the alliance's delivery requirements and its addition is supported by the grouping's other members."

I gather that anything with a KA flight number wouldn't earn QFF status credits and points?

KA is not oneworld member yet!
KA flight under CX flight number CAN NOT earn AA miles, even on CX flight number and H fare.
You can only earn AA miles on oneworld metal.
Don't know about QF miles for CX code KA metal.

They also do not earn miles or status credits.

In fact I believe that you do not get any oneworld privileges if flying a CX flight # on KA metal

Dragonair, named China's best airline for the past five years by the SkyTrax airline quality organisation and serving more destinations in Mainland China then any other airline based outside the mainland, will join oneworld as an affiliate member later this year.

Even after KA joins OW, KA's mileage earning and redemption rates for other OW FF programmes may not necessarily be the same as CX's.

Is KA affiliated with ANY frequent flyer programs aside from their own?

KA's FFP is CX's Marco Polo Club, but I do believe they are affiliated with JAL Mileage Bank as well.

By "Marco Polo Club" are you referring to the "Asia Miles" program?

Marco Polo Club is the CX/KA Loyalty Programme. AsiaMiles is the associated mileage programme.

"Marco Polo Club" & "Asia Miles" are different in that the former costs $ to join and is for earning status; the latter is free to join and is for earning redeemable miles.

Thanks for the distinctions. So...does AsiaMiles program allow mileage accrual for KA flights??

Yes for most fares - see www.asiamiles.com. KA and CX are the same now - Marco Polo for the loyalty programme, and Asia Miles for the mileage.
