Apologies for opening a new thread on this - I think it's been mentioned before, but I can't find it...

CX MNL aren't the best CX office in the world (in fact they're probably the worst in my experience) but I'm hoping to book a couple of DONE3s ex-MNL and the rules would seem to allow me to purchase them in NRT (at the ex-MNL price) since the NRT price is lower. If they can be issued as e-tickets then I should be able to do a same plane turnround in MNL without having to pick anything up there, I seem to remember someone here saying they had done this. Assuming my memory isn't playing tricks, could that person confirm this and let me know (here or by PM) who they dealt with in CX or AA NRT? And can the NRT office issue 17 segment e-tickets or do I need to keep it to 16 and reissue later? And can they deal with open segments on an e-ticket?

Yes, you are right, abbreviated comments or as in this case questions aren't always the best; apologies. I meant to ask if the 16-segment restriction that KF mentioned also applies to CX (since the thread is about CX). I know AA has this restriction, but I was wondering if CX also has the same limitation.

Ahh. You got my hopes up for a bit there.

I think the 16 segment limitation is common to a lot of airlines; AA is a wee bit behind in that they cannot even machine print paper tix greater than 16 segments. A few weeks before the surface segment rule change came in, a mate from Amadeus made a casual remark that etix with 20 segments can be created on Amadeus but I haven't had a chance to verify with him what airlines are already doing that. Definitely not QF/BA last I checked.

Last time I checked (about five months ago) BA could eTicket a 20-segment OWE ex-MAD without any problem. I didn't go ahead with it however so I cannot be absolutely positive.

Unfortunately their fuel fines are usually greater than the US$125 rerouting fee to restore 'missing' segments.

I hope that AA will miraculously develop such a capability come compulsory eticketing time...

Hmmm. Someone from AA mentioned being able to e-ticket my 20 segment DONE4. When I expressed surprise he back-pedalled. At the time I thought it was the usual incorrect information (probably most xONEx's issued are less than or equal to 16 segments and thus e-ticketable). But maybe it is not?

Several ATW AAgents, including the star herself, confirmed that it's 16 segments and below, including surface segments, for an eticket to be produced. This was also confirmed by AA NRT who actually advised me to drop some segments if I want to pay and issue an etix over the phone (a paper tix would result in having to pay and issue at the ATO).

Perhaps the 20 segments thing is a 'work in progress.' We can only hope...
