AONE4 to Patagonia - help
I am having difficulty establishing whether it is possible to fly to El Calafate or Ushuaia on my AONE4. The agent at QF told me the LAN flights cannot be booked as only Y is available on these routes (he implied this was the case at all times, not just on my dates)
I would be grateful for any help or information

From the official xONEx rules:
Moreover, on a DONEx or AONEx you can book into the Y bucket on all-economy flights (you don't need L availability as would be the case on a LONEx).
Bottom line, you can absolutely book those flights, the agent was wrong (of course, you would travel in Y as nothing else seems to be available, unless the agent was also wrong in that).
For flights where no First or Business class is available or offered First class passengers will travel in Business / Economy class and Business class passengers will travel in Economy class.

Be prepared to quote the relevant part of the rules, and you should succeed with QF. Alternatively simply speaking to another agent may do the trick. I wouldn't base your selection of issuer on something like this!

QF has encountered only agents with extremely poor understanding of xONEx rules. Is that just my bad luck or is OP going to have a hard time finding one who will respond positively?

Thanks for the replies.
The ticket is already issued with BA so, as far as I am aware, I have to deal with them to make changes etc. However, since I am a QF Platinum based in London I usually find it alot quicker to call QF first for queries instead of waiting an eternity on BA.

As others have suggested, you can fly in economy-- but don't you have better uses for your AONE segments either in South America or elsewhere? Because the cost of economy segments as part of LAN's South America pass is relatively cheap, you might want to consider buying them separately. For example, when I went to Patagonia in March, I bought AEP-FTE, FTE-USH and PUQ-SCL for about US$400 total and saved the RTW segments for SCL-IPC , SCL-LIM, and LIM-EZE (although A is not available, you at least get D).
