So how ARE we meant to get to Colombo on oneworld?
I suppose i'm lucky in one way that i haven't booked it yet but i need to get Lhr/SYD via CMB(having come syd/las)
Without Cathay , anyone got any bright ideas how i do it on a DONE4 without paying extra segments on a staralliance plane?
If only work booked staralliance and qantas wasn't the only one with lounges to where i live
SHane

It would be easier to offer alternatives if one knew the details of your fare and itinerary. The same with your other post, still open: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=703230

the actual trip
Ok
the actual trip is
syd/sfo/mco/lax/las/cmb/syd
All of the other stops in between are now most likely off so i don't need to go to Johannesburg or London anymore but i do need to go to all of the cities on the itinerary i've quoted in August
It has to be oneworld due to work booking Qantas preferentially and i get to fly J
Royal Jordanian seem to be the only oneworld airline flying there
It seems to me to be simplest to go to Bangkok and buy a return BKK/CMB flight on Thai or Sri Lankan air now i can't use Cathay
I'm not particularly interested in a mileage run as i'll have been away long enough and will accumulate enough status points through the rest of the year to stay where i am.
Platinum FF Qantas is of no use to me really as i spend most of my time on regional aircraft in Australia and do international twice a year i. one of which i travel with 3 kids, the other in j
Hope that helps
I'm just trying to be able to go to the booking guy at work , give him a list of flights and say "here book these"
Shane
All ideas welcomed!

It is possible to get to CMB on RJ via AMM however I believe that the service is rather thin. Then get a flight to BKK/SIN/HKG from there and fly QF home.
The alternative solution is, as you suggested, fly to a nearby gateway in Asia like SIN or BKK, and get ur own return to CMB from either of those cities. Both cities have daily QF services from LHR and to SYD.
