Stranded in Syria
Heres my problem:
I have a GLOB26 ticket ... DRW-xSYD-JKFx-Halifax-LHR-DAM-xBAH-SIN-DRW
I'm currently in Damascus working; contract finished 27 June.
Remainder of ticket if open.
BAH-SIN is on a QF flight number, but GF metal (only opion).
GF are suspending BAH-SIN at end of June, leaving only 2 dates possible for me 28 or 29 June.
28 and 29 are both "closed" ... I'm not sure if this no availability, or if GF are being very selective.
Qanats GSA in DAM (the ticket is QF) says GF "should fix it for me"
BA in DAM says same.
So far GF doesn't care (one of the reasons being that its a QF number, apparenly). I'm hoping I can convince the manager, who wasn't there today to help me ... either reroute at no cost OR put me on another carrier (I believe they have been doing this a lot)
Plan B is to up the milage and add some extra stoppovers in Australia.
Any thoughts ... esp before tomorrow ... grately appreciated.

As your on a QF flight number QF really should be your contact point through GF. Suggest you contact QF on one of their worldwide reservations numbers even if it means you calling Australia.
If you were on a GF code (which is allowed under Global Explorer rules) then GF would be your point of contact.
Can you perhaps be routed via RJ, especially now that they are in OW?

Actually, DAM-xBAH has GF, but BAH-SIN has QF number ... the fact that its a transfer rather than a stopover, and that the first segment is on GF, is the thing that both QF and BA reps here pointed to before referring me to GF. Hopefully I can get something from the manager tomorrow.
As for RJ ... the ticket isn't endorrsed for RJ ... was issued before they joined.
Thanks for quick advice!

Might be easier to change your ticket onto eligible carriers (i.e. RJ) rather than have a battle with QF and GF. Reports coming in seem to suggest that RJ is pretty good and if you happen to be in J it looks even better.
Good luck!

Wasn't that the other way around, with one report where it was endorsed, and lots that were rejected? At least that what I recall, but I'd be happy to stand corrected, as it'd benefit all of us.

Yes, I'd like to hear of actual experiences of being allowed the new additions onto a pre-April 1 ticket also. When I had my October ticket reissued by AA 2 days ago, it specifically states on the ticket that only the pre-April 1 carriers are allowed.

The other possibility is to see if you can persuade QF/CX to give you what GC says would be 193 miles grace and route BAH-HKG-SIN on CX.
If you don't actually need to be in SIN then BAH-HKG-DPS-DRW keeps you under 26000 miles.

Thanks ...
For the suggestions.
At the moment, the problem is in the hands opf the manager of the GF office in Damascus ... I am to call him in 48 hours. He was keen to point out that it wasn't really a GF problem beacuse GF and QF have ended their codeshare agreement and its a QF number (might have something to do with the fact that they have cancelled the codeshare services!); and he noted that GF don't get much of the revenue from this ticket (true enough). BUT, he said he would find a solution - en sha allah. I am less that 100% confident.
If its thumbs down, then I'll investigate the RJ option or the grace miles option.
Actually Chrisstep, my routing wasn't exaclty correct. Its actually:
DRW-SYD-LAX-JFK-halifax-JFK-LHR-ALP-DAM-BAH-SIN-DRW ... so miles are very tight.
If I have to make major changes, and move up to 29000, who do I need to see QF GSA or BA?

In principle any OW airline could do it. In practice I'd go to whichever airline is gaining most from the reroute. CX has a GSA in DAM also. Details here: http://www.cathaypacific.com/cpa/en_...countryCode=SY

Too bad your ticket was open dated. If it had been dated, you would have had a free reroute, on any airline (not just OW) and any routing that was viable (eg. even via LHR). As an open dated ticket, the airlines have to do nothing and it is entirely your problem. Anything they do is as a favour, so you have to try to bribe them.

And if it is open dated, what's all the talk about a QF codeshare about then?
Edit: Oh, I see (it takes a while at my age) open dated from Damascus onwards and the codeshare is the flight OP meant to take, not the one he/she is booked on. Ok, in that case number_6 is correct and OP faces a bit of a struggle.
