Not too much trouble for me since I'm MEL-based and much prefer QF25 but I have a feeling it was an above 2000 mile transtasman route for BAEC TPs...

Plenty of trouble for me to get to AKL after SYD-PER. First they canned PER-MEL, now this.

Sorry to hear that.
When are you flying? The cancellation is only happening "from July."

And no direct CBR-AKL service. I was about to suggest that. Woulda thought the seat of government would have been better served.

What about entering SWP via AKL? You could do that from SA, NA and Asia.
Then AKL-SYD/MEL-PER-etc etc.

CBR-MEL/SYD flights can be had for cheap. Or do the scenic drive down to SYD and fly out from there. A hassle - but that's one way out. PER-CBR's timing can be pretty bad though.

Yes seat of govt but people who work there don't necessarily live there. Hence very busy Cityflyer services.

The devil is in the etc etc. If I fly AKL-MEL/SYD-PER then I can't do PER-SYD/MEL direct.

An oft used Plan B is to do CBR-PER with cheap 'red e-deal' fares MEL/SYD-CBR (or vice versa). O class MEL/SYD-CBR can be purchased normally at ~AUD120 and often cheaper (~90 or 100) with "sale" fares.

Thanks, but PER-ADL-SIN doesn't get me back to the East Coast. There are many ways to just go around Oz for the miles, or for normal touring, but I visit SYD, PER and MEL for other reasons. Anyhow, ADL-AKL is gone and no amount of whingeing from me is going to bring it back, so I'll just adapt to the new reality.

Amen. I was stuck in CMB during the late-March disruption and after much obfuscation, misinformation and misdirection, CX in CMB finally booked me on TG CMB-BKK. When I went to check in for that flight, TG turned me down flat-- and said I had no booking on the flight and that J was full.
