any comments on this DONE4 routing?

CMB-SIN-NRT-SIN-LHR-DXB-LHR-LAX-SJO-LAX-MIA-ANC-DFW-EZE-CCS-SCL-IPC-SCL-JFK-HKG-CMB

Appears to be valid and offers 74,000 miles over four continents.

I'm debating whether to take this DONE4 or my LONE5 from my other thread. Both include destinations of overall rather equal interest, but the Biz class will "cost" me about $1,500 more (after factoring actual $ plus value of miles earned).

Seems like a no-brainer for 74,000 miles in Biz vs Coach but I'm concerned that it will spoil me for flying coach in the future which is what I always fly. I wouldn't ever buy a single J/F ticket with my own $ but the RTW in Biz class is too good of a deal...

If you can afford it do it, it's great, and don't be too concerned at the 'spoil' factor, which varies a lot from person to person. Many feel, or at least say, "First class or I die", but in my case, after more years than I care to remember flying all classes, I still jump into cattle class whenever it suits me, gladly, and I feel none the worse for it.

Well, I'll be, there's a MIA-ANC through flight (AA278). That's a lot of miles on a single domestic coupon (4000!), and it's not even a trans-con.

What happens if that flight is no longer offered when the OP is ready to fly?

If the coupon is dated nothing bad happens, AA will just exchange the single coupon for a many-segment eticket, and it will not affect the OWE rules at all. If not dated, you are on your own.

It's a rather minimal sum for me on a trip of this magnitude, since I'll be spending at least a week in probably about ten of my destinations or using them as a base for a cheap ticket/bus/train to other areas. Even for a cheap traveler like myself (I'll be couchsurfing/hosteling) it's not that much cash.

I've never flown Biz class. How much nicer is it compared to flying coach on longhaul international flights? I know it varies from airline to airline, but on average?

IMO, it is not that much nicer, but it is a lot more comfortable.

It is possible to sleep on airplanes, esp. in the BA J seats. You could do a day long trip to DXB, for example, without using a hotel in DXB and just sleep on the LHR-DXB and DXB-LHR flights. Definitely possible to save a few nights hotel cost (also meals cost), which helps to offset the J price.

I'd also mention that if you buy a DONEx ticket and credit the miles to your AA account, and do all the travel during the same calendar year, it amounts to over 110,000 elite-qualifying points, so you'd end up as Executive Platinum, with a year's free domestic upgrades and 8 electronic system wide upgrades, not to mention double mileage on eligible flights (in addition to business/first class class of service bonuses.)

The trip could earn you as many as 160K "spendable" miles, enough for another RTW in business class later.

I've calculated (hopefully correctly) this trip to earn 139,000 EQP and 185,000 RDM. Would then split it over two calendar years and combine with sufficient cheap MRs to earn EXP two years in a row for the 16 SWUs. Would also net about 300,000 RDMs total which is enough for two coach 50,000 mile award RTWs.

I'm taking two years off work for this travel and more....
