There was some inaccurate information posted re a possible itinerary that involved backtracking. Others did the research, and showed clearly that the poster was misinformed. I'm editing out all those references to help the clarity of this thread, though am appreciative of the research that folks did.

But again, the additional tax/fee costs for allowable domestic segments (to SAN and/or LAS) following the RTW would be pretty minor.
One other note is that if you're not too worried about AA status/miles, a simple JFK-LHR-DEL//CMB-HKG-LAX-BOS RTW would earn you 660 Tier Points in BA's FF plan, enough for Silver (OW Sapphire) and free Admiral's Club access in the US for the membership year. You'd have to fly BA over the Atlantic in Club, of course (maybe originate at YYZ? - Not a terrible schlep from Rochester.) Oh the horror.
