Re-routing if a route is canceled?

If a route is canceled after you have it ticketed on a *ONE, I know that the airline will reroute you to your destination. My question is, can you chose a routing, or are you stuck with what they offer- for example:

SYD-BOM, if this route by QF is cut, due to the new JetAirways code share ex SIN, am I stuck being rerouted on this flight, or can I ask QF to route me on a QF flight to BKK, and then the CX flight BKK-BOM? (or for that matter QF or CX SYD-HKG then to BOM?

Thanks

They will only reroute you if your ticket had confirmed dates. If it was open-dated then you need to pay the USD125 reroute fee. If they reroute you then you pretty much have to take what they offer, but you may be able to negotiate an alternative if it's a reasonable one. You may well only get miles for the original routing.

Thanks for the information christep. I have a date booked at this stage, and will change it if needs be later, but it was really the rerouting if the route is dropped that had me a little worried.

I am crediting the miles for the DONE4 to AA, which will get me EXP, but the SIN-BOM secotr on the Jet Airways cpdeshare with a QF flight number won't get me any miles, causing me to jsut miss the EXP without adding my own tickets somewhere else! If I am able to reroute through BKK or HKG with QF/CX, then this won't be a problem.

I only really though about this, as the QF board had some talk that the new codeshare might see the demise of the QF SYD-BOM flights ( I know- it's onbly talk at this stage, but ...it got me thinking, and made me change the open sector to a confirmed and dated one!)

The QF codeshare on JET is on a DONE4 ticket? Not only won't it get you any miles, but it is not a legal routing for a DONE4. Though JET is unlikely to catch it, I suppose, however better not do a reissue which might check your routing for validity.

I think the OP is suggesting that if he has a BOM-SYD ticketed on a DONEx and that route is then cancelled, QF would move all of the passengers onto the QF/JET codeshare BOM-SIN and then mainline QF SIN-SYD. I believe the ticket would remain valid in those circumstances, but of course not if for other reasons you have to do a reroute/reissue before the flights are taken.

Christep is right. I currently have the DONE4 bokked, with a SYD-BOM sector, leaving India on CX DEL-HKG.

I was just worried about the QF SYD-BOM being canceled before I take it in early November. I am just hoping if that is the case, that I'll be able to reroute (involuntary) through BKK with QF/CX instead of the QF/Jet Airwarys code share from SIN-BOM.
