Fare enquiry

Hi the best team in the globe

I have a friend who wants to do a RTW , it seems best that the itinerary is best suited to the One world and not star alliances , however any advise is always welcome . Also would it be cheaper to buy the rtw D in Hong Kong , and just fly Y to HKG from MEL.

Here it goes Mel - phnom penh-hkg-yvr-jfk-frankfurt-mel

I am aware that one may have to fly to HKG as there may be no direct flight from Mel- to phnom penh?

Kind regards

How did you come to this conclusion that it's only Oneworld?

Did you sought the services of a TA?

Just one look at this and it's obvious thatit can also be Star and in additional to your preferred choice of Oneworld. However did you also know that you can take SQ/VS option , or MH/VS/HP, or self made RTW combining CX with BA (possible from Oz)

Your question is not about Oneworld but rather you want us to find a fare for your friend. The choices are limitless.. but just simple "RTW" for you is not enough... you really need the services of a TA in Oz to help your friend. It will be too complicated for us I think to tell you, and then you tell your friend what to do.

For such a wide range of options available, it is best if you seek the services of a TA specialising in RTWs from Australia.

Hi Guy

I think there is a misunderstanding , maybe I should of put a ? next to Star alliance, also your intepretation of my request for info , and I quote '" not you to tell your friend " is a very poor assumption , nevertheless I thank you for your snippets of advice

Maybe the point is that you haven't provided enough info to allow for a good recommendation as there are literally dozens of different RTW fare products which might be suitable for that routing (your assumption that there are only 1 or 2 is not correct). The available products differ a lot, and which is best depends on your objective -- none of which were stated in the post: class, cost, FF mileage accrual, FF status accrual, maximize or minimize mileage, add extra travel to reduce cost/mile. The "best" fare can vary from AUD 2500 to AUD 10000 depending on these objectives. Some are cheaper in Australia than in Hong Kong, some are not. So there is a lot of variation and room for optimization.
