A thought on my DONE4: "Valid oneworld carriers only"

One thing I've been meaning to broach since I reissued my DONE4 in AMS with BA, is that the airline restrictions changed. My original BKK issued ticket had the usual list of allowed carriers, BA/CX/QF/AA etc. My reissued ticket in AMS showed however "Valid oneworld carriers only," and my re-reissued ticket by QF in SYD still shows the same restriction. (It also changed to an e-ticket.)

So, my thought is this: the new wording potentially allows the use of new carriers like MA, RJ and JL once they join oneworld. Of course, that would require another reissue and it's probably not worth it in this case, especially since my ticket expires 18th of April. Perhaps this is something to look out for on your tickets.

I've occasionally had tickets with the "OW carriers" limitation and assumed that an on-top-of-it rate desk would interpret it to mean "OW carriers as of the date of original issue" regardless of the nit that they weren't specifically named. But trying to get one by them is a free sport.

Of course there's that "QF CODESHARE SERVICES OPERATED BY JQ - JETSTAR ARE PERMITTED EXCEPT FOR POINT OF SALE AUSTRALIA AND NEW ZEALAND. " to further cloud matters since JQ is not a "oneWORLD" carrier.

I've seen the text both ways on my OWE tickets. Nothing new.

It's easier for the agent to type in "Valid Oneworld carriers only" than all the corresponding airline codes!
