Best FFP for german based member?

Next week I will be flying DUS-LHR-HKG-LHR-DUS with BA in Business Class. Should I join BA Executive Club or is there a better option (Asia Miles?)

There have been no replies because there is no one answer to this question. It depends on how you earn and burn miles and what you want from FF plan. If you fly J or F, BAEC and QFF are good plans for status. AA is the best plan in terms of most value for your miles (but less good for status). Asiamiles is somewhere in the middle and is the only Oneworld plan that lets you redeem upgrades on multiple airlines. If you have to pick one and don't know the choices, Asiamiles might be best. Also Asiamiles is only miles, the status plan is separate for CX (MPC), and costs a fee to join (though this is often waived).

I would join BAEC. Being Germany based you only need 400 Tier Points to achieve BA Silver. Your trip to HKG gets you 320 TP plus almost 18,500 miles. You then only have to have fly one cheapie CE return(say DUS-LHR-DUS) and you've got Silver.

I believe that you can be both an Asia Miles Member and credit your status points to the BA Executive Club

Not sure if you can do it just by opening an Asiamiles a/c or if you have to have an address in Asia.

You would need to have an address in Asia to do that.

Depends on what your _future_ flying pattern ist.

You can get with the challenge on American Airlines with Platinum in probably one flight but need to retain that at 50K without flights over to the US with BA.

That flight with BA will give you already 320 points of the needed 400.

Add one Biz flight to LHR for ~ 250 Euro after that and you exactly hit 400 points and will have silver for one year after completion. This means lounge access on oneworld flights.

If you reach 800 after that you can get Gold with more benefits.
You will also earn miles with BA which will allow you for the future (given the availability) upgrade WT+ via Miles to CW. You only can do that with BA miles.

Register NOW at once calling the BAEC tomorow and request if you can be enrolled in the current earnmoremiles promotion (ba.com/earnmoremiles) I assume chances are zero to very low, but if you do get it, you can have additional 50K miles.
