Fixing wrong itinerary on DONE4

I recently purchased an RTW from CX in CMB. When I picked up the ticket at the airport I noticed that it had been incorrectly issued, but could not get it fixed then. Instead of LHR-CAI // DXB-LHR, it has been issued as LHR-CAI-LHR-DXB-LHR; all of these segments are on BA. When I went back and reviewed our e-mails, I saw that I had asked for the correct routing but they had confirmed the incorrect one, and I did not notice the mistake.

AFAIK, the ticket as issued violates the rule of too many long-haul flights in Europe, but CX insists that it is OK. They suggested that I just throw away the unnecessary segments. If I do this, will I have any problem with BA? I know that I can get the ticket reissued, but would prefer to avoid the hassle. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Clearly it is an invalid routing (and I'm really very surprised that CX let it be issued that way), so if you are ever going to want to get the ticket rerouted in future (even after you have taken these segments) then you need to get this sorted out sooner rather than later. On the other hand, if nothing is going to change then I would probably try to take the flights for the miles.

I have had experience in throwing away mid-itinerary unncessary segments which were issued open. So if yours are issued open you have a pretty good chance of being able to throw away unnecessary segments without problem.

if on the other hand you have segments issued with flight numbers and dates, then throwing away and no-showing up for those segments will cancel the remainder of the segments on your itinerary - not recommended.

Thanks. Yes the segments are "open."
