AA to QF at LAX

I'm flying SAN-LAX-AKL on Thursday and had a few questions. I was told that after I land at LAX I will have to make my way over to TBIT and check-in again with QF as AA won't print my BP even though its a AA codeshare. Is this true? Also, will I have to claim my luggage at the commuter terminal or will they interline it for me? I assume I'll have to claim it since I won't have a BP. Thanks.

AA may print your BP, but you will still need to get it swapped for a QF-stock BP in LAX.

They should be able to check your luggage all the way through, even if they don't issue you the LAX-AKL BP.

Not sure about the BP part, but you will have to clear security at TBIT.

AA will print your boarding pass but both QF and CX at LAX usually require that you get a new boarding pass on their stock. You do not have to do this as the check-in counter though as the gate or club agents will print one for you as well.

Presuming that you are flying AA on SAN-LAX, you can just stay inside security in T4 and get the QF BP in the lounge in T4. QF reprints it in order to process the ETA (if applicable), so it really isn't optional. AA in SAN cannot do this, thanks to the incompatibilities in the Oneworld computer systems. Of course LAX-AKL departs from TBIT, so you will have to go landside and re-clear security, no matter what you do for BPs.
