finnair - how does status promotion work?

I may be flying OW more often soon... hence my question how does finnair status promotion work.

Do I need to earn 250K point to go from zero to Platinum or the 60K to Silver PLUS 120K to Gold PLUS 250K to Platinum?

Also do OW flight count as status points?

So many questions...

You need to go step by step, so you need at least 60k+120k+300k points to get OW Emerald. Ow flights count for status. When flying biz you get 200% points, and in First 300% points. Some discount codes gives you only 50%.

The 250k needed from Gold to Platinum, within 24 months, was replaced by 300k already some 3 years ago or so.

thanks...

quite a challenge to make platinum in one year - even when flying F cabins most of the time...

the requirement corresponds to 100K miles in F cabins (!) are there many AY platinums around?

That's only bit more than CX who would require 80K miles in F cabins, and a total of 140K to get to Diamond/Emerald from scratch compared to 160K for AY.

Of course AY itself doesn't even have an F cabin!

AY measures in km, not in miles, so for miles multiply by 0.62. Making AY not so expensive, particularly for renewal (it is less for AY Plat than for AA EXP if traveling in F on both airlines).

QF used to be in km also, but converted back to miles to be consistent with other airline plans (and rather conveniently the awards stayed mostly at the km level, so it was a stealth devaluation).
