Except that AA codeshares with CX on both these routes so if you can book the flights under AA codes you should get full credit on AAdvantage.

Depending on the time of year, the OP might be able to fly this sector with AY, thus earning 200%.

I live on Finland myself and have definitely chosen AA as my FFP. I mostly travel Finnair, and discount economy. When crediting the miles to AAdvantage, five roundtrips HEL-LHR on AY earn one free trip. On AY, I'd neet 22 trips!

The OP could do AKL-SYD on LA earning 200%, nice A343. I found LAN to provide excellent service. Have to decide if the time of the departure is convenient though.

That early LA flight AKL-SYD is problematic unless you are straight connecting through from SCL. It leaves very early - need to head from city to airport around 3am! But bank (for paying departure fee) and customs don't open until about 4:30am (I think a bit earlier for times when flight departs 0455) and have big queues for both from 4am (due to all the early Oz flights leaving around 0600 and pax being told they must check in 2 hours prior ). So no time to enjoy duty free shopping or the airline lounge and a lot of waiting around trying to stay awake.

Ok, I didn't know as I got off at AKL having flown from SCL, but I did enjoy LA service more than QF service.
