Hi,
A short qustion regarding service and comfort, should I choose BA or QF in J for a flight between SIN and LHR.

There are tons of posts about this topic in the archive. I prefer BA when travelling alone (for privacy).

Whatever you choose should be your own decision. Whatever we tell you is our opinion.

BA - J seat, flat bed, So-so IFE. Even more so-so catering.
QF - J sea. Almost flat bed. But new flat bed. Great IFE. Better catering.

I always chose BA on this route.

I've flown both BA and QF on this route within the past 6 months, and prefer QF. But I haven't flown J recently (so my comments are based on the F service). Guy Betsy's summary is spot on, though BA seems to have finished its cycle of making the catering as bad as possible and is now improving once again; but the meals are still dismal compared to 2 years ago. I suppose the catering strike at LHR has had lasting affects. Luckily this is a JSA route, so QF and BA services at LHR are identical (so no difference in terms of ground facilities).

If you are over 6' tall, QF is the better choice. BA's bed is not good for us tall folk.

Completely agree. Have flown equally long legs (but not this one) in both BA and QF J and vastly prefer QF's Skybeds over BA's pods. Food/service have been hit and miss; slight nod to BA but not by a lot.

Although not SIN-LHR, Last week I did SYD-JFK(via LAX) on QF and I must say I prefer BA based on the following:

1) IFE - No AVOD on the plane and even from my experience a few weeks back on BKK-SYD with AVOD, the system does not bloody work 1/2 of the time. Therefore IFE is the same as BA and the choice is not that great

2) the Seat. Although it is longer, but really I find sleepign at the incline is jsut not comfortable and I had back pains when arriving at JFK (after 18+ hours on the seat). The BA beds are much better and I really DON't understand why people say the width is an issue as I find the QF seats (actual surface ares where you BUM sits) are the same as BA. The stupid QF side arm rest does not retract fully down so you still can't spread out like they show on the picture

3) Catering - absoulte joke. Really the entree and the main course were pretty bad (they try to be creative for eg. Bean Mash rather than just simple potatoes) and it just tasted like.... The seared Tuna looked so dried I only ate the salad. Also the snack menu is pretty bad with only sandwiches.

One more thing. I don't understand why there is a lack of WATER on board. They ran out of the individual bottle water and then they ran out of all mineral water. Really how can they do this. and it is NOT just an isolated incident. On my F Class BKK-SYD, same thing happen. Really I think refilling a bottle is not acceptable in J and F Class.

Service - typical QF, nothing special.

I really like BA's J product overall - always have. And I really would like NCW, if I was just shorter. Skybed just happens to be more comfortable for me, and that ultimately is what counts. Food/beverage/service is close enough to make that a wash.
