Athens-Split..Can it be done?

Hi all. Could you please give me an idea of if I could fly Athens to Split on a OW carrier. Is it possible? Thanks

That depends if you want to go through LON or not...

And if you want to change airports while you're there...

And if you want to pay 600 Euros to fly 550 miles...

Unless I'm missing something of course...

Right on, It as easy as that

I guess the best way to do it will be when Malv join OW. The annoying thing is my flight will have been long gone by then.

Do any carriers fly direct Athens-Split

No. ATH-FCO-SPU is the most "direct."

Your history lessons will have told you that relations between Greece and most of the former Yugoslavia (as well as Turkey) have not been all roses and violets over the years.

MA has been added to the AA FF plan as of June 1. It may have been added to other plans as well (I haven't checked). So it is halfway to joining OW.

It has?

I just looked at all the partners listed here and I don't see Malev listed?

You can earn AA miles flying MA but not redeem awards on MA yet -- that won't happen until full OW membership. This thread was about flying and earning miles so I kept it brief, but apparently too brief for some.

Edited to add that the partners page has been updated and MA has been removed ... it was there earlier in June (and supposedly started earning miles as of June 1). So either the page update is a mistake, or MA isn't earning Aadvantage miles yet. Not a good omen, this was the first sign of LX having trouble with joining OW, when BA blackballed it. This time BA won't do that, as BAA owns the airport in Hungary where MA is hubbed and has a bit of influence over BA which it would use to protect its investment.

Ahh, nothing like a good bit of FUD to liven things up here.

number_6 is correct. ^

I just Googled the *cache* Partners Page (not the current one) at aa.com and it was all there, with full details of earning as from june 1.

Interesting. It was there only yesterday, because that's when I found it. And I was about to make a booking HEL-CAI right away. Glad now that I didn't make it. They would have given 100% miles even for the cheapest booking classes.

MA is still on Finnair's website, though.
