Transfer time at ORD?
Hi,
I'm planning an OWE + award ticket combination and I'd like to know whether I'm able to transfer from BA 297 (LHR-ORD) arriving 15:20 to AA729 (ORD-LAX) departing 16:57. The BA flight will be an award flight and the AA flight a continuation of an open OWE so the bookings will be different and I'll have to go through customs anyway.
Will I be able to do that or should I take te 19:00 ORD-LAX making it a miserable 3+ hours transit?

You will of course have to go through immigration, collect your bags, re-check them, and take the shuttle train to the AA terminal. Then you'd need to check in (unless you can get a boarding pass on the separate PNR from BA), get through security, and board your flight to LAX.
Biggest uncertainties are the arrival time of the BA flight and the number of flights that will have arrived in the 20-30 mins before yours. I'd estimate that you'd make the earlier flight 25-35% of the time.
