OneWorld Explorer Routing

As I've been checking and keeping myself up to date on the latest rtw rules, I've read that the routing must go through Area 1 (Europe),Area 2 (Africa), and then to Area 3(Asia) or vise versa. Is there any possible way to do Europe-Asia or vise versa non-stop while still including Africa (JNB,CPT)?

The problem is the lack of North America-Africa flights, and 2nd entry to Europe is not allowed (except for Accra or Lagos origin, which isn't what you want). However CX has ticketed LHR-HKG-JNB-SYD and I believe this is 100% legal (haven't checked recently), so you can do this on an xONE5 eastbound routing. It isn't legal westbound or without including Australia (as you cannot exit Africa otherwise).

How does that get around this rule?

2. TRAVEL MUST BE IN A CONTINUOUS FORWARD
DIRECTION BETWEEN AREA 1-AREA-2-AREA 3.

IIRC Europe/Africa are Area 2 and Asia/SWP are Area 3.

It doesn't, maybe that rule didn't exist when I did this, or maybe it was a mistake. Or there was an exception for SYD-JNB. The rules have changed so many times, who knows? I've stopped caring, as the only rule that counts is what will an airline ticket. Once the ticket is issued it is golden (unless you reissue it).

This would be very sweet from a mileage perspective if it gets ticketed.

At the moment the only possible routing to southern Africa would involve using non-OWE segments past NBO - Thus (Asia)-xLHR-NBO to get there, then on your own, then NBO-LHR for the European bits. Conversely you could go (Asia) - Europe, do your Euro segments, then LHR-NBO-xLHR- and immediately onward to N. or S. America. No other eastern/southern Africa cities will work in this manner.

For the time being, Star Alliance has all the aces in putting Africa-intensive RTWs together.
