Need help with DONE3

Hi

I need help maximise the number of BA TP for the following RTW:

osl-lhr-isb,khi-bkk-hkg-kul-hkg-jfk-lax-ord-sfo-dfw-mco-lon-dxb-lon-osl

The crucial points being:

1. I need a 3-4 day stop in KL.
2. I need 1 full woking day in ISB.
3. Minimize the number of stays in hotels (0 stays preferred).
I have free accomodation in DFW & MCO
4. Max 10 days away.

Q's. Is it worth going the opposite direction?

You are one segment missing in N America so you could rework that if time permits.

Also note that the MINIMUM stay for a DONE3 purchased Europe is 10 days, or more specifically:

So your proposed itinerary would be about 12 days away from home.

Just to use the last segement in Europe, and DXB is about the furthest i could get and has a quick turnaround.

You could squeeze a couple of hundred more TP's out of the NA segements by including a r/t to SJU from ORD. Also do a bit of a zig zag to use up the extra segement.

osl-lhr-isb,khi-bkk-hkg-kul-hkg-jfk-lax-ord-sju-ord-lax-dfw-lon-dxb-lon-osl

Total TP's for DONE 1400 as compared to 1200 on your original routing.

No I was commenting on christep's unedited original note (one extra Euro seg when he meant one extra NA seg) - now corrected. DXB is fine for miles/TPs.

If I understand your post correctly, you're interested in maximizing BAEC tier points, with the destinations somewhat secondary? (Except for free beds in DFW and MCO?)

If that's the case you ought to exchange some of the shorthaul (under 2000 mi) legs in N. America and go for >2000 mile ones. Also, note that JFK-LAX Iis operated with 3-clsss aircraft where your DONE3 will book into D instead of A (which provides 180 TP instead of 120.) Other transcons (SEA, some SFOs, SAN) are operated with 2-class planes. If you're not desparate to fly only between JFK and LAX then that's a better yield on TPs. (LAX-MIA is also a good tier point transcon.)

For 2000+ mile (120 TP) J/D segments that aren't transcons (thus permitted more than once) look at ORD-SJU and DFW-SJU. If it's just a mileage run then something like (HKG)-JFK-SFO-ORD-SJU-DFW-SJU-ORD-(LHR) would earn you 720 TP v. 360 TP in your original itinerary. Or you could use the LAX-MCO on a 2-class 757 for your one transcon and still visit Mickey.

So are you saying that when you have a DONE3 booked and you fly domestically in the US on a 2 class, you will fly First and receive TP based on that??

Please suggest how to maximize the TP for the NA segements, NA destinations does not matter.

That is my understanding but I would kosher it on the BA board.

J/D flights on OW airlines earn, IIRC, 40 TP for segs <2000 miles, 120 TP for legs >2000 mi.

There are relatively few non-transcontinental segments in N. America that exceed 2000 miles, some notable exceptions being DFW/ORD-SJU, ORD/DFW-ANC, and maybe a couple of others that I can't recall right now. Look here for a useful list, although likely quite out of date.
