HNL Connection Times?

Question for y'all frequent flyers. I'm arriving in HNL on QF3 from SYD at 9:50am. I need to connect to a Hawaiian (seems to be the only way to earn AA miles for the trip) flight to OGG. Is 2 hours enough time or should I allot more time?

I have never had to clear immigration at HNL. However, I have connected from a mainland flight to HA inter-island flights a few times and 45 minutes is sufficient to cover that. My guess would be that 2 hours would be OK (but very close if you are in Y) to make your connection.

I've done it several times in an hour or less, flying in front.

I've done an international to interisland connection at HNL (arriving from Tokyo, transferring to an OGG flight). The problem is that after you clear customs, you have to go through security again. When I went through HNL in mid-2003, the security lines at the interisland terminal were horrendous. We waited in line for over an hour and almost missed our connection.

Maybe someone here can comment on whether the security lines at the interisland terminal are more reasonable now.
