OWE price differences?

hi everyone,
i heard buying a OWE or Global OWE can range in price depending on Airline and Country purchased. Can anyone give examples?

I am asking because I was told buying from Qantas is cheaper than AA...I called the Qantas office and the price was exactly the same though--perhaps I needed to call directly to the office in Australia? I did call BA and their 4 continent OWE price was a couple hundred dollars cheaper.

can you guys give me some info on this?

thanks so much!

1. Welcome to FT!

2. Read this sticky thread at the top of this forum, especially the second post. The price depends on where you buy the ticket and start your trip, in addition to number of continents and class of service.

one more question....it looks like if i do buy a RTW i'd buy the Oneworld leaving from London--i'd be saving well over $1,000, which seems well worth the trouble.

since i technically have to buy it in the UK, what i'm wondering is:

-can i buy it over the from the states, calling directly to the UK office?
-if so, would i be able to get it ticketed the day of my departure once i'm actually in london....or is there limited a window in-between when the ticket is purchased and when it's to be ticketed?

thanks!

What OWE product is $1000 cheaper from UK than from the US? I thought most of the OWE fares are very high from the UK, maybe the highest in the world, and cheaper from almost anywhere else. I haven't bothered to check current prices, but this has been true for several years, has it changed now? Most people living in London start their trip from AMS to get the lower fare (and it is easy to get to from LHR). The cheapest is Cairo and Istanbul.

hi number_6,
first time i heard this was from Gardyloo....i checked it out myself and it was indeed true. for a OWE leaving around dec 14, the ticket costs $3900 (although for some reason some of the AA CSRs also quoted $4100--perhaps because it's a seasonality thing). i just spoke with AA again, asking how much it would cost starting from London and they said it would be 1519 GBP, which right now translates to a little more than $2600

This is all consistent with the fares here: http://www.hardlink.com/~markdu/OWFi...orerFares.html

N America DONEn fares are roughly double the price of LONEn and AONEn is roughly three times, whereas in the UK, DONEn is roughly three times the price of LHONEn and AONEn is 4-5 times more than LHONEn.

(Meaning that business class is very roughly the same in both markets, economy is significantly cheaper in the UK, and First is significantly cheaper in N America.)
