Using AONE3 to PVG

Am I correct that, until AA launches ORD-PVG service, the only way to use an AONE3 to get to PVG is to fly from LHR or HEL, and then purchase a separate ticket to get from PVG to somewhere in Asia serviced by CX or AA, or, if one wants to travel in the opposite direction, fly CX to HKG or AA to NRT and then purchase a separate ticket to PVG, either roundtrip or plan on flying on to HEL or LHR? (Obviously, if I am right, there are subtle variations on these alternatives, but is this basically it?)

Qantas flies to Sydney 3 times a week also, but in terms of continuing with Asia, then yes you are basically right.
