As part of an AONE4, I had a confirmed seat on CX888 JFK-YVR on Friday. I went to review my booking today and was told that I am now waitlisted on this flight. My AONE was originally open dated, but I confirmed this segment several months ago. I plan on calling the AA RTW desk to see what happened and try to have them fix it. The flight shows full in First (No F or A availability). For all the CX experts, I have 2 questions:
1) How can this happen?
2) How can I get back on this flight in F?
Thanks in advance.
I'm going to cross post in the CX forum but wanted to make sure I got all the CX experts.

Btw I do hope the OP follows up and posts the resolution. I have a bad habit of assuming when an airline agent tells me a flight is confirmed, to assume it is so and not worry about it until I arrive at the airport and thus myself am a prime candidate for such a problem.

When booking an XONEX through AA (as I usually do), I still call the operating carrier to confirm that they have the reservation, the seat assignment and the ticket number in their records. A biut of extra work, but I don't like surprises.

Situation resolved...but still seems bizarre

The situation has been resolved. I was reconfirmed in F on Friday's seat (but not in my original seat). I discussed the situation with the AA RTW desk, who said that they ticket number had been sent to them when segment was confirmed in April. Last Friday, they sent a message over saying please send ticket number (despite the message not previously being in the confirmed reservation). Within 3 hours of that message arriving, they cancelled the segment and waitlisted me. AA confirms (having looked back through the PNR history) that the ticket number had been sent over. They then liaised with the CX revenue management who reconfirmed me on the flight. As an aside, they did not have my AAdvantage number in the reservation despite AA having input it in. Any ideas about what really happened?
