Swiss Air added to list of airlines

According to my rep at AA, Swiss Air has been added to the list of ONE airlines. Not sure if this is old news or not.
They run a surprising number of flights from SE Asia are and Middle East.
Just an fyi.

There was a brief period many months ago when it was thought that BA was going to buy them and they were added to the list of GLOBEX airlines. But the deal fell apart, and last I heard they were being bought by Lufthansa, so I would expect them to come up on Star, not OneWorld.

There are still quite a few AA/LX codeshares, but with LH taking LX over I'd expect those to vanish before long. Of course, you can't use LX codeshares on a xONEx, but you might be able to get AA award tickets using those routes.

You must remind yourself not to make important decisions based on what you hear from that particular rep. There was a time - almost two years ago, I think - when LX was a candidate for OW membership. Rumors of their imminent acceptance flew fast and furious here for almost a year, then the bubble burst. There were/are codeshares but they are unrelated to OW membership and aren't allowed in OWE itineraries.

LX flights are not part of the ONEWORLD EXPLORER RTW fares, but are included in the Oneworld GLOBAL EXPLORER RTW fares.. which also include codeshare flights with South African Airways, Air Tahiti Nui, and GulfAir.
