Ba Codeshare Akl-syd Is Possible
HI All,
Just wanted to let you know that flying on BA metal from AKL-SYD is possible. This is in response to some who told me that is wasn't possible.
Though to be fair I had to get it in a little round about way.
I originally had an open dated DONE4. I rang up BA who told me that they codeshare with QF (BA7340, BA7342, BA7344). So I popped down to QF who then told me that they couldnt put on a QF system a BA codeshare. Luckily they were also acting as GSA to AA so I asked them to book the flight on the AA system.
Now to those who may ask 'Why the hassle'. I needed a BA flight for my 4 minimum tier status.

Er, that isn't "flying on BA metal". That's flying on QF metal under a BA codeshare. I'm no longer a BAEC member, but you need to be clear which is required: 4 sectors "BA marketed" or 4 sectors "BA marketed and operated".

DOH,
Never mind. At least I got 120 Tier on a short flight and half mileage bonus. Though on my BAEC statement it shows as a BA flight hopefully BA won't be able to tell the difference.

BA Codeshare does qualify as BA Tier Flight
Hi,
I thought this information may be useful to BA status chasers.
Several months ago I got in a slightly round about way a BA codeshare for AKL-SYD. I thought that it may count to the BA minimum 4 flights needed for status. Though it was suggested that I might need to be on a BA plane.
I have just discovered that the codeshare is enough and helped me reach Silver earlier.
Cheers

Just how strict are they with this "4 flights" -rule? I've had BA gold card for 7 consecutive years now and two years silver before that. At least once I didn't meet the "4 flights" -criteria but had some 2500 tier points and I still got my gold card renewed. It was a couple of years ago, though.
