To change it you have to have the ticket reissued, and pay the fee.

Edite to add: assuming, of course, that by 'change' you mean changing the routing. If it is just the reservation you want to change, and still fly DFW-JFK, then there is no charge.

Yep, it is a transcon (coast-to-coast, across the continental US).

Yes, I was going for the funny side...

But I still have a hard time understanding. You are ticketed DFW-JFK, right? You would like to change it to SFO-BOS, right? Yes, you will have to pay the $75 reissue fee. Whether either of those segments is considered a transcon seems to be irrelevant to me based on the information provided.

Or maybe you were just providing SFO-BOS as an example of a transcon???
And you have an "open" DFW-JFK but you would like to change the time? (Technically, you can't "change" the time on an open segment since it was never scheduled to begin with...). No, there will be no fee. FYI, you can change the time/date of any segment on a OWE, transcon or not. So again, I don't understand why you even mention the transcons.

Does this help you?

Hi Ijgordon I apologise for my strange postings, however I will endeavour to explain myself more clearly I am doing a RTW later this year, knowing that in the states I am only allowed one transcon. I thought SFO-BOS was not a transcon so I thought I would change DFW-JFK and do a surface sector from DFW to LA, rather than going to LA and then back to DFW for my DFW-JFK. I now know this is not possible as my transcon is MIA-LAX . I hope this is okay Have a good weekend and happy flying ELo
