OneWorld award booking codes
I know this has been talked about before, but I'm having a senior moment and just cannot find it. So, my apologies in advance.
My question is this: When using American Airlines AAdvantage miles to redeem a OneWorld Multicarrier Award (OWMA), are the flights booked in the same class as when booking flights using the ordinary All Airline Partner Award (AAPA)? (To help avoid confusion, I'm using the terminology used by AA to distinguish between the awards.) For example, I know that when using AAdvantage miles to book an AAPA award seat on Qantas, the booking codes are Z for first class and U for business class. Are those codes also used for OWMAs? (Just to clarify, I'm asking about all participating OneWorld airlines: AA, Aer Lingus, BA, CX, Finnair, Iberia, LAN4 and Qantas.) If so, it seems like the difficulty in obtaining first or business class seats for AAPAs and OWMAs is exactly the same. Correct?
Thanks for the help!
