New Star A rules, perhaps prophetic interest here

The *A folks are talking about new rules coming to their equation on 15 Apr. None of it has anything to do with OWE except perhaps as a foretelling of our future. Hope not. The * fares being miles based are more like GEX, which I know nothing about, but generally-interesting "deprovements" include separating U.S. and Canada, and making Central America part of South America.

A couple stood out to me:

- AC J Sleeper seat surcharge - sorta like saying DGLOBXX have to pay surcharge for Skybeds, NCW, etc... - is it a J product or not?
- $125 re-issue fee - that sounds the most likely to make it across to OW

The existing AC worry to me is their FF program that only gives 100% miles to D (Discount Business) on AC flights whereas the other Stars give 125% for D. Hope this is not going to be a trend.

It is a J product, but SQ started the trend of surcharges for the very long non-stops operating SIN-EWR and SIN-LAX for the RTW fare. The weird thing is that if you take the SIN-FRA-JFK flight (one flight number), the surcharge does not apply. Now AC is copying SQ on the long YYZ-HKG flight. The best oneworld analog would be the CX HKG-JFK flight incurring a surcharge. SK also has a surcharge for their sleeper seats; these are a few J seats with extra recline.
