What timetable to trust

I have tried to figure out flights between GIG-GRU by using OW electronic timetable and amadeus, the OW timetable shows that there are flights from GIG to GRU with AA/BA/LA (when you choose the option "Non stop flight report" GRU-->"all airports". However, the schedule tool itself, nor amadeus, shows any of these AA/BA flights...should I trust amadeus over the OW program? Updated it for Feb 26th ver. Date I looking late June 2005. Are the AA/BA flights some continueing flights which do not take new passengers for GIG-GRU leg or what...?

Thanks for any clarification

I had this query so phoned the airline up. The flights do exist however I was told that BA/LA do not have rights to carry domestic passengers so Amadeus will not show availability and they cannot be booked

Do I take this as there is no OW service between GIG and GRU? LA flight still shows on the OW timetable but not on their website so I think it's the same issue with that? Need to do a surface sector or fly on another coupon/airline?

I think that you will have to do a surface sector and fly with Varig or similar. I couldn't get this arranged as part of an ATW ticket using OW

Thanks, we got around the issue by routing ...GIG-SCL-EZE-LIM.. and skipping GRU stopover totally, no need really to go there in the first place. The GIG-SCL flight goes through GRU but as mentioned already, they cannot take domestic pax.

Weird though that OW elec. TT shows the flights...those should, imo, be removed as one cannot travel solely on those parts of connecting services and only show them as either GIG-SCL or GRU-SCL, but not giving GIG-GRU at all...there seems to be many similiar cases like these so some work is needed with the program.

GIG-GRU can be booked using OWE tickets -- it is not cabotage. It cannot be booked using point-to-point tickets. The reason it can be booked is that it is part of an international ticket -- and traffic rights exist for that. A bit murky is whether there are any routing restrictions on the sector (I think you must have an international flight entering/leaving brazil immediately before or after it ... as you would in any case).

I would have thought that that was the case, however my experience in trying to book it with AA, BA and QF was that no availability was being given plus, QF, on calling back did confirm that LA/BA were not able to take passengers on GIG-GRU sectors except if booked through to an international destination .. e.g. SCL-GRU could be booked but not SCL-GRU, GRU-GIG .

If you know how to get that sector booked, please let me know as I have a booking held for may where I would like to book that sector

I would think this would be a similar situation to JFK-LAX on QF, where people have been successful booking that route as part of a OWE even when not connecting directly on to / from Oz. Though there have been reports of it being more difficult to book that flight in such situations. Sorry I can't help with specifics as how to book GRU-GIG, but it should theoretically be possible, maybe keep trying different agents!

If I look up availability for QF from LAX-JFK , QF107 does show up and list availability in tools like expertflyer; If I try looking up GIG-GRU, LA does not even list.

Try booking using AA, they tend to get this right while BA and QF do not. You can phone the AA RTW desk, or contact the AA office in Sydney (there is one, despite no AA service to SYD for 20 years now). It is on the North Shore (listed in phone book or on the AA web site). I am 90% sure that you can get this ticketed using AA but they would be more interested in helping you if you had an AA sector in there somewhere.

I have booked the ticket through the AA ATW desk and they are unable to book it. I originally booked through QF but when the whole itinery changed I went to the ATW desk and they have also been unable to provide this sector

I tried to book with AA RTW desk also, without success. I cannot see this being an issue depending on the airline in question, if those carriers have no rights for domestic pax, how can they let people to exit the plane depending on who have issued the ticket...only thing is the direct connection from another international flight...that might work?
