Four continents itinerary. First time
Well, I've been planning to do this trip for a long while now, and I'm in England as we speak, where I plan to buy my tickets and start The Trip. I made a solid itinerary using AA's oneworld tool, and I'm pretty sure that it's within all the rules. The only phone number I could find to book the itinerary was for BA here in England, and the operator didn't know what she was doing. She was convinced that I wouldn't qualify for a RTW ticket since I kept returning to London to transfer, I told her that I wasn't leaving the European segment and that It didn't matter if I went to the same city twice. She's submitted it to the Fares Department, and they'll let me know monday evening if I can get them and for how much. So you can all see what I told them, and possibly let me know if I was correct here it is:
LHR>CAI
CAI>IST (via LHR)
IST>CCU (via LHR)
DEL>HKG
HKG>PEK
PEK>HAN (via HKG)
BKK>SYD
MEL>HBA
HBA>AKL (via MEL)
AKL>NAN
NAN>LAX
LAX>SJO
SJO>COS (via DFW)
PHL>LHR
I see some rule about not returning to the Origin Point, would I fix this by flying out of Manchester or somewher else? Well, please let me know what you think. I worked hard on this to get it just how I wanted, aN I think it just falls within the rules. Thanks!
Mike

There are several issues you'd need to address.
UK origin
48N . 4. 1 INTERNATIONAL DEPARTURE AND 1 INTERNATIONAL
49N . ARRIVAL FROM/TO THE COUNTRY OF ORIGIN PERMITTED
If you are originating in the UK you cannot return until the end of the trip. You can resolve this by originating in Cairo, and ending there. Might be lots cheaper too, depending on your class of service.
Vietnam
101N . /**/ - TRAVEL NOT PERMITTED ON CX FLIGHTS BETWEEN
102N . HONG KONG AND VIETNAM.
You'll need to work around that rule. Ticket outside the OWE?
Fiji
95N . AA BA IB LP LA
96N .
97N . AY CX /**/ EI QF AX
98N .
99N . * INCLUDING CODESHARES OPERATED ONLY BY THE
100N . CARRIERS LISTED ABOVE. (My italics.)
NAN is served on Air Pacific metal with a QF codeshare flight number. So no Fiji. Sorry, sucks. On the Global Explorer you can use FJ. You can, however, go SYD-HNL-LAX/SFO/ORD/DFW if you want some Pacific island time. Not the same, I know, but not nothing.
N America
Remember LAX-SJO is seasonal. You have extra segments to use in N. America. Overland from Colorado to PHL?
Keep working at it and happy planning.

My recommendation:
Start in CAI or IST (get a cheap one way to go there). Much cheaper this way. Also solves the problem of departure from country of origin.
If you start in IST you could also do Dubai (more miles).
If you want to go to vietnam likely BKK is the best point for getting a seperate ticket. LH has quite good fares in C (www.bangkoktickets.com)
Fiji: Check www.travel.com.au or www.travel.co.nz. They have good fares to Fiji.
Or look at the Star RTW tickets. You are limited by the number of miles, but Fiji and the other islands are possible on NZ, Vietnam from BKK, SIN, SEL, NRT.
HBA should be difficult (extra ticket from SYD or MEL?). Check the Star Forum!
