xONE3 or xONE4 ?

I know that if an itinerary goes SWP to Europe via Asia on a single plane service it is treated as 3 continents, BUT is travel from South America to Asia via North America with only a transit counted as 2 or 3 continents.

For example: BKK-LHR-GRU-JFK (transit)-HKG-BKK. Would this fit the xONE3 and not count NA as a continent?

It's 4 continents. It touches down in the US.

I don't know of any way to go to Asia from South America without going via the US.

Thanks SanDiego1K, it was worth a try anyway. Had it worked, it would have made a very cost effective way of getting to SthAmerica.

Of course, SthAmerica - Asia can go via SWP as well (LA SCL-SYD then the usual suspects from SYD to BKK, SIN, HKG, NRT etc). Too bad there's nothing direct - and I suspect there never will be.

It's probably too far (for now anyway). Shortest route I could find was GIG-SIN at almost 9800 miles (EWR-SIN is about 9500). Of course the other question is whether or not there is a market for the route.
