Trying to reissue an AA-issued hand written ticket from CAI
I had to reissue my DONE4 ticket today and brought the hand written ticket that was issued by AA in CAI into my local CX ticket office.
I think the ticketing person almost had a heart attack when she saw the ticket. Yes I know that AA issued the ticket 'not the kosher way' but it's legible, and AA in CAI was very nice to have printed the fare and ticketing information on a seperate piece of paper. No, apparently that isn't good enough for CX, who insisted on contacting AA and telling them what a terrible job they did! So I told them to telex CX in CAI because they are the same GSA as AA.
I'm giving CX 4 days to get my ticket reissued! Let's see what transpires.
OY VAY!

Strange - only last weekend I took my EMECO handwritten AONE3 to the CX airport ticket desk in HKG for a reroute, and the agent there (Wendy) was the usual CX model of efficiency: process completed in 25 minutes.

I agree with you, christep. I've always reissued my tickets at SIN or BKK. This is the first time I've reissued it at YVR's ticket office and the agent there was basically lamenating me for AA's errors. Hello? What do I have to do with it... yes even though I know fully well that the ticket was not pretty, but it's still a valid ticket. I've seen tickets that have been issued a lot worse or incorrectly by others.
Okay... next time I'll do it back in Asia. But for the meantime, I wonder if I should print out the sets of rules for this agent. I have a feeling there will be constant telephone conversations between her and I in the next couple of days.

QF in Auckland managed quite easily to re-issue mine in March.
Mind you, I had to wait for an hour to see someone. They then had to keep it overnigth and I had to wait 30 mins to collect it, so perhaps 'easily' is a bit misleading.

Four days later... and after a few phone calls, the ticket has been reissued by machine (not hand).
CX even gave me a refund MCO voucher for the taxes that won't be used since I rerouted. But I have to send it back to Cairo for refund. I wonder if they will honor it though.
Anyway, I thanked the agent for painstakingly working on this reissue. And I gave her a small box of Lindt chocolates for her efforts.

Actually, one other suggestion on this to suggest to the AAgent types (besides giving a couple of boxes of Lindt chocolate!).
The AA desk in London did a very interesting trick on my handwritten EMECO ticket that had 19 segments left. Rather than rewriting it, they did a 'forced reroute' on the first 3 segments and then were able to get the other 16 on an electronic ticket. Worked wonders. I only wish I had my plans set so when I was in London yesterday to have them reissue it again.
