Question Changing final seg of DONEx

I'm considering changing the final segment of my ticket (ex CAI) to LHR-TIP (rather than LHR-CAI). Is this possible under the rules? I know that DXB is, but not sure what category TIP comes under.

Unfortunately I believe that the boundary of the "Middle East", which is what you need, is the western border of Egypt so I don't think you could do this.

Tax/surcharge recalc

Before deciding to change the last segment, check if the reissue and recalc will have you paying extra fuel surcharges etc (that is, if you purchased prior to the surcharges being implemented/increased).

Yeah, in oneworld geography, TIP is considered part of Africa, but Egypt, Sudan and Tunisia are part of Europe, go figure. Also as Libya isn't part of their middle east definition you wouldn't be able to end your trip in Tripoli (assuming you started in Cairo).

I'm not sure about that. I suspect that no-one has thought about redrafting the rules to take account of TIP being "open" again. My expectation would be that it would be regarded as part of "Europe", along with Algeria, Tunisia and Morocco.

If anyone has any real experience with ticketing TIP on a xONEn ticket then please post it here.

I just called the AA RTW desk about including TIP in a RTW. They definitely stated that Tripoli/Lybia are considered part of Africa. I mentioned that the only way to get there was from Europe, and that it was the only North African country not considered part of Europe, (even Sudan is included!) and would they consider changing the rule. They said they hadn't had many calls about Lybia. So if everyone starts calling the RTW desk maybe they can change it.. If they do change it it will probably be considered 'UK long haul', but not Middle-East.. so might not be too useful on ex-CAI routings.
