Getting to Seychelles and /or Mauritius on OW

Hi,

I cannot, nor can QF reservations work out how to get me from SYD to Seychelles and / or Mauritius on OneWorld.

Any ideas? BA lists Mauritius as a destination from LHR, but I cannot find Seychelles.

Thanks,

nonce.

BA is your only option (and a pretty long way around!)

The following fly into MRU (from the airport website):

Air Mauritius, Air Europe, Air France, Air Zimbabwe, Austrian Airlines, British Airways, Condor, South African Airways and Emirates Airlines

Can't help with the Seychelles (Had MRU Bookmarked)

Seychelles is Mahe airport (SEZ). Seems the only airlines going there are Qatar Airways and Air Seychelles (with various code shares including AF). I may have missed some, but it seems the main routes are restricted to CDG-SEZ, BOM-SEZ, DOH-SEZ and MRU-SEZ. No OneWorlds in that lot.

Their website (http://www.airseychelles.com/) is in need of updating.

British Airways stopped service to SEZ earlier this year.. and the only way to get to MRU on oneworld is via LHR. So effectively there isn't a way to get there from SYD without a separate ticket (from DXB or JNB might be best).

Actually many moons ago, Cathay Pacific serviced MRU from Hong Kong. I believe it was during one of the oil crises and they did it so they could refuel more cheaply. In any event, a ticket on Air Mauritius runs about $250 one way to or from JNB. It's not a bad flight and you go over Madagascar which is kinda cool.

So there would be no way to do MRU as part of a xONEx as this would require back tracking between continents unless LHR was used as a transit to Asia or the USA (depending which direction you started out heading)?

From Australia this would be a xONE5 if it could be done?

The better half always chooses the hard (and costly) places to get to.

If I remember correctly, CX did do a couple of charters (for CX Holidays) during the summer to Seychelles. Seem to remember no miles were awarded for the flights. Seeing as it happened at the time of those riots, not sure they'll be doing them again!

I think you are confusing the Seychelles and the Maldives. I am not aware of CX doing charters to the Seychelles.

Convince your travel planner that the Maldives are a better choice than either of the other two. JMO, of course. Then it's a cheap and easy hop from CMB.

Any updated news on the possibility of a OW partner flying to SEZ this year? I was hoping to go with AA miles, but was disappointed to learn BA cancelled the flight.

Has any OW partner picked up the Seychelles??

This is the oldest thread I've posted on. Is there currently any One World Service to the Seychelles?

thanks

Is Mauritius in Africa for xONEx purposes?

Yes

The only OW flights in/out are from LGW and JNB
both are BA flights (the to/from JNB flight is on BA's subsidiary Comair)
