Simple Visit Africa Airpass

I'm flying in and out of JNB on LH. From reading the rules it seems that I am not able to purchase a OneWorld Visit Africa Airpass- is this right?

I seem to see this in only one version of the fare rules out there (here) where it says:
"Travel on the last international sector in to Africa and the first international sector from Africa must be operated and marketed, or marketed by AA/AY/BA/CX/EI/IB/LA/QF"

This would be awesome if I could!

Yes, it is right. Why do you feel the need to ask this? The rules are quite explicit, and you have quoted them and there is no room that I can see for ambiguity.

Thank you for being so helpful.

Room for ambiguity exists-
A) that line was listed in only ONE version of the SIX copies of the rules that I read.

So, which version is correct?

B) I'm not an airline fare rule expert. "No room for ambiguity" would be if it said "chexfan, this doesn't apply to you"

Definitive rules?

I'd say they're here and you're plain out of luck.

This fare must be booked in conjunction with return travel to Africa on specified airline carriers - please check at time of booking enquiry.
I doubt if LH is among them.

That said, you could try AA. They would sell Europe passes with an award ticket while BA wouldn't. Maybe if you call enough, some agent will sell you a pass. Or if you wait long enough for ZA's entry into *A, maybe a *A Africa pass product will be offered.

Actually, I'd suggest you try looking at AA.com for fares.

Depending on where you want to go in Africa SAA market an airpass and Comair (the local name of the company that operates with BA livery in Southern Africa) also has its own airpass which is distinct from the Oneworld visit Africa pass ( apart from domestic South Africa it only includes Zimbabwe, Zambia and Namibia I think)

LCC between CPT and JNB?

This is OT for OneWorld - but in the spirit of helping chexfan, isn't there a Low Cost Carrier that flies between CPT and JNB? If that is the main route of concern to him, finding an LCC could be very helpful.

I thought it was non-resident rather than non-national?

Thanks 3544quebec. I checked w/ the SAA US telephone reservations and they said they have stopped offering Airpasses.

That OneWorld Visit Africa Airpass would have been so helpful!

Thanks for the LCC suggestions folks!

Speaking of airpasses... looks like LanChile has a new one for South America which looks like it is cheaper than the oneworld airpass:
http://www.latinamerica.co.uk/visitsa01.htm

I'll be arriving in Lima on LanPeru but leaving on American on an award ticket. Anyone know if the airpasses are valid with award itineraries? Also looks like the Visit Chile airpass is good to Easter Island, which it hasn't been previously.

The Visit Chile pass states "If flying any other airline in/out of South America: Not applicable"
You are out of luck on that one as departing on AA.

You are able to purchase any of the oneworld Visit passes even if on an award ticket. The basic requirements are as stipulated above in another post.

"TRAVEL ON THE LAST INTERNATIONAL SECTOR IN TO SOUTH AMERICA AND
THE FIRST INTERNATIONAL SECTOR FROM SOUTH AMERICA MUST BE
OPERATED or marketed BY A ONEWORLD CARRIER"

Eligibility
Only available to residents of the country of sale in conjunction with RT travel to South America, as defined above, on scheduled services. Proof of residence may be required at time of purchase or at check-in.

That's great, HB. Thanks a ton for the info. Some of those prices are very good, especially with the ability to rebook and reroute for a very reasonable price.
