SKYE World Tour 2005

To Sandiego's suggestion, here I am starting a thread.

I have decided to have a world tour next year. I'll do a Hong Kong - New York - Santiago - Easter Island - Australia - blah sort of plan, and although I've already got loads of excellent NZ/Australia ideas, I need some more places to visit. Thanks!

Ideas. Or favorite RTW places to visit. Anyone?

Ordering the continents

Welcome to the oneworld forum!

Looking at your sketch of an itinerary below, you're going to run into problems if you want to do a xONEx, as you're going back across the Pacific to Australia having crossed once already from HKG. You'll have to add a stop in either Africa (then go JNB-SYD) or Europe (transit through Asia) before going onwards to South-West Pacific. This would rearrange it as Asia-NA-SA-Europe-(Asia)-SWP or Asia-NA-SA-Africa-SWP.

Starting in HKG may not be optimal either, but that depends on your proposed routing in Asia. You can't return to your city of origin, so you might want to consider starting in BKK. It's a lot cheaper too.

Other issues to consider: are looking solely for places to visit, or do you want/need status and mileage runs too? If so, what FFP do you want to credit it to? What cabin do you want to fly in?

Thank you, to answer you, I am looking solely for places to visit, because I already met the requirements for CX DIAMOND. I fly in FIRST CLASS and I'm in MARCO POLO.

Is it a requirement that you must be able to fly all segments in first class or will you contemplate lowering yourself to business class for some segments where there is no first class?

By the way, would you please reconsider your habit of writing "Diamond", "First Class" and "Marco Polo" in upper case every time? This is taken to be the online equivalent of shouting and I am sure that I am not alone in finding it very irritating.

There are many other CX Diamond members on this forum, not to mention other FT members who only fly in premium classes. But even when they go on their world travels, they don't bother advertising it to the rest of the FT community in bold letterings.

Being a braggart can be rather uncouthed.

By visiting the major cities of the world can hardly be called a world tour. If you say that you'd be back-packing through Amazon jungle, going Safari in a tent without running water, going to far flung places like Broome instead of Sydney, going to Tibet instead of Beijing, going to visit Mother Theresa's shrine in Calcutta insead of CMB, then maybe, you'll be scrapping the surfaces of going on a 'world trip'.

When singers come to town, they call it a world trip, but they may only have a few stops. Justify that.

In no way was I "bragging". What's the big deal about flying commercial?

Skip New York, skip Santiago, skip Australia. Spend more time in Asia and South America, go and visit Africa, and go and visit India. New York is New York. Personally I don't like it there so I wouldnt go out of my way to go. I do have several friends there and the occasional reason to go but I usually try and get in and out. Santiago isn't all that interesting. Nice, though. Go to Buenos Aires instead. Australia would be nice but I think that if youre looking at a "world tour" then Africa might be more interesting. I suggest that when looking at where to go you consider the cost of going back. Personally, i would go to Easter Island Brazil and Argentina, wherever in Africa that strikes your fancy, Cairo and somewhere in eastern Europe (Budapest, Prague, Warsaw, etc.), Beijing and Hong Kong, Delhi, and wherever else in SE Asia that attracts your interest and fits your budget. Unfortunately youre a bit limited due to segments but with all the LCC's you can get around a bit easier than in the past.

YOu are just showing off as usual.

To be really honest given you are MPO DIAMOND and always travel in F Class, I don't think you need advice on flights. I think posting in the actual country/city guides section might be more relevant.

Just get a list of all you destinations and buy FULL Publish F Class fares at the airport as you fancy and decide on the destination then.
I presume "A" class is too shameful for you.

No need to plan ahead an annoy everyone on this forum.

Are you a Singer?
