Oneworld advice Cathay flying

Greetings
I am a NW plat with few miles on any OneWorld carriers. But, next month, as part of a CO itinerary LAX-HNL-GUM-HKG-DPS-NRT-LAX, I have two flights on carriers that I think would justify joining CX's Asia Miles. But, I'd welcome any advice that folks on this board might have. I'm flying CO for LAX-HNL-GUM-HKG and CO coded NW for NRT-LAX. HKG-DPS is on CX as S and DPS-NRT on JL as H. Reading the AA web site, it appears that I can get 70% of the mileage for the JL flight but nothing for an S fare on CX. It also looks as if I'd get 100% if I open an Asia Miles account on CX. Am I missing anything?
Thanks.

That is correct. Asiamiles is free but Marco Polo Club costs USD50 to join (however you don't need to join MPC, but don't earn any status without being a member). There are many quirks to Asiamiles which makes it hard to compare to other programs, but in general it is worth about half as much as Aadvantage, so you might have orphaned Asiamiles if you don't fly more with CX on discounted fares (generally you would be better off crediting non-discounted fares to AA). HKG-DPS is only 2K+ miles, so you'll have to make 20 more trips like that before it becomes enough miles to do much with.

Please note: you NO LONGER will receive any miles on Asiamiles on CX if booked in S class.

Thanks for the pointer. I guess I'll forgo miles for the CX flight and post the JL at 70% to my AA account.
