Question Avoiding the BA sticker fee when changing dates

I will need to change the date of my last flight segment (LHR-CAI) on the current ticketed coupon. Everyone knows that there is no charge for this change, but Chrisstep has noted that the BA LHR T4 staff are notorious for demanding 25 GBP regardless of what the rules state. I am tempted to revise the itinerary (add in my 2 remaining flights for Europe) and change the date of LHR-CAI here in the US and pay for the cost for a ticket reissue. My qualms are that last time I did a ticket reissue with BA, it took over 2 weeks and 2 trips to the airport. Thats a hassle that I prefer to avoid if possible. And no, AA cannot redo the ticket because of the tax calculation problem as I tried that once before. Or, do you think I can get BA at a USA airport location to sticker the coupon to match the reservation.

I don't understand why you need to change the date on the ticket coupon. The coupon is valid on any OW flight on the route regardless of what date is shown on it. (Provided that it is before the "Not Valid After" date). Just turn up at check-in with the coupon and it will be accepted. Change the reservation date simply by calling BAs reservation office.

If you are having to get a reissue done for reroute then get all the remaining segments issued open-dated (as IMHO you should have done in the first place) and make the reservations separately.

I had BA do a re-issue at LAX and they were pleasant enough about it. It took about two hours starting at about noon on a weekday. Agents clearly are not trained in OWE's and hate doing them. Asked me if rate desk had given me an add collect. Accepted my "nope" at face value and just charged me usd75. My change was changing 7 NA segments to 7 others on a CAI-issued ticket.
